Using a broker to sell your home can cost you up to six percent of the selling price -- in other words, if you sell your house for $400,000, you can lose up to $24,000.

But you'll save that money if you sell the house yourself -- and it's not hard to do!

Thoroughly revised and scrupulously researched, For Sale By Owner in California takes you step by step through the entire selling process, from putting the house on the market to transferring the title. Even if you choose to use an agent, this book is a great way to prepare yourself for the home-selling process. Learn how to:

*pick the best time to sell *prepare your house for sale *advertise widely and inexpensively *sell while you're buying another house *set the sale price *screen buyers for financial feasibility *make all disclosures required by law *negotiate with potential buyers *handle multiple offers *remove contingencies *complete the escrow process

However, I might not have known what to search on, if I hadn't purchased the book. Please use the internet to look up all the laws it discuses--and read the laws for yourself--important information is left out. Also look up your local county and city disclosures, the book is far from complete in this regard, and you are potentially libel for anything you overlook.

I wanted to know more about the legal paperwork required, not how to market the property.

Sold our house using this book. It was really informative. Between the content I learned in this book and just looking up certain things specific to my state on the internet, my home sale was very smooth.

This book is pretty good, although I think it probably makes things more complicated than they have to be. I guess it lets you know how complicated it can get. It is a good book.

I also had the Landlords book and like that one, this one comes in very handy for knowing all the ins and outs of FSBO.

The Kindle edition does not come with the forms on the CD included with the paperback edition.
"Includes all forms" - where can I download them?
This book is really well organized and so much info. If you need the forms to sell your property everything is on the CD.
