Michael Schneider, Steven C. Introducing advanced programming concepts necessary for designing programs for ''real world'' implementation, this fully revised text meets the ACM recommendations for the Computer Science II course. Data abstraction concepts have been considerably expanded, and other primary topics include programming style, procedural abstraction concepts, and program implementation. Answers to selected exercises appear at the end of the text.

Introduces advanced programming concepts necessary for designing programs for & world' implementation. This book is divided in 3 big parts: -Data Structures -Program Development -Program implementation. I'm only referring to the first part (the one i've readed). This book presents Data Structures in a very simple, and visual way (with very comprehensive schemes on how it works on memory and the flow of program, et., because of that it is the perfect book to start learning Data Structures.

After learning Turbo Pascal, what's next? This book is a comprehensive text that delves into computer science using lots of illustration, practice questions with answers and being easy to follow. I have a copy of this book till 2012 June. Largest section is the classic such as data structures (such as link list implementation) won't go away no matter the programming language.
Basics such as linear data structures and their array implementation are introduced before moving to their linked list implementation. Abstract data type, stack is next which comes before recursion. Tress are defined and threaded binary tress are also explained. Sorting and searching algorithms are dealt with before files are discuss in brief. Much of these are with clear diagrams which makes me love the book!

Next section talks about program development such as programming style for programs to behave nicely or look nice, which is applicable even till today. Of course, the context of these are in the traditional waterfall methodology. However, chapters such as design evaluation brings in familiar concepts such as logical coherence , independence that are strikingly similar to Object oriented concepts.

Lastly, program implementation concerns is the last section which is overall brief compared to the other sections. Just a hundred page compared to the book's 615+pages. It touches on issues such as 3 kinds of errors, syntax errors, run-time errors, or logic errors for debugging. For program testing, module testing, system testing and integration or acceptance testing is covered. Program efficiency and the analysis of algorithms are mentioned as well as the documentation, maintenance and programming support environment. Of course, diagrams are well sprinkle out the pages. For the appendices, the syntax of the pascal language, standardized pascal identifiers or characters sets is a rare sight in 2012.

My favorite is the answers to selected exercises which is a good reference for me as a student then to learn.
