The book was very well written and presented the information in a clear no-nonsense manner. It clarifies what skills are necessary if you are considering advancing to the next level of competition especially for high school players. Most players probably already have a hazy idea of what's required but this book is a good reality check and will allow you to assess your game more objectively. I also think younger players who are seriously interested in playing would also benefit by educating them on what skills they need to be developing if they wish to play competitive ball.
What this book does NOT tell you is (1)how to obtain these skills (2)how to get drafted for college or pro ball. It does not discuss tryouts, tournament play, showcases, travel teams, mentors or critical stages or points in time in your baseball career. Also sections about interacting and communicating with coaches and administration, Junior college vs 4 year university vs minor league what to expect and how to navigated them would be useful. Perhaps he can write another book covering those.
Why I didn't give it 5 stars? Just because a player might have most of the 'total package' does not guarantee they'll get offers to play at the next level. The player needs to find ways to be seen and get noticed by the right person for them at the right time.

This book has advanced my thinking about player development. I have since purchased copies for other coaches and we are using this resource to shape our baseball program. Simply outstanding and I am glad I was introduced to these concepts. This book is appropriate for all age groups from 10U and above. I introduced these concepts to my 10U team last fall and we are building our team around these principles.
