Absolutely a great primer for those wanting to learn more about value investing. Skonieczny does a great job in focusing primarily on one valuation method, DCF, and making it as simple as possible. His website gives you the Excel spreadsheet model for free and you can easily use it to follow along with the examples in the book and also apply it toward your own research. Moats are briefly explained and provides four detailed examples of each.

This is the second book I read by this author - I find his writing to be very clear and informative. This book is not meant to be an all encompassing expert guide but rather a primer to what a business is and how it is valued and sold. The author further details various metrics and valuation of stocks. Overall, important basic information written in very clear manner.

This is a great book. It is short. To the point, and has some simple models and ideas to follow for the value investor.
It gets most, or all, of the ideas from the likes of Lynch, Buffet and Graham.

What I did not like was that it only concerned itself with one type of investment. There was for example no turn-arounds or asset-plays (in the words of P. Lynch).

Thus, all in all, great introduction to value investing. But don't stop after reading this, keep going!

This book was very informative, especially since I'm starting to do some investing. The science/art of trading/buying/selling stock can be intimidating. I appreciate this read as a great resource of data.
Thanks

Amazingly complex subjects become simple by reading this book. A good start to a value investing library. Even with an MBA this was extremely helpful.

Gd to start with but too light weighted. Pale in comparison with other books.

I would recommend F wall street as the first book to start with.

Although little publicized is a very good book.
The day I received the book, I decided to read just one chapter and see how it went. I found it hard to put down! What a great work! I finished it in 5-8 hours total, fast for me. I found it very easy to understand, well written and a delight. For me personally, it was like reading a compilation of much of what I have learned about investing over the past 40 plus years. It provides the beginning investor with a broad, but brief overview of most of those things to look for when investing in stocks. As one who has developed and taught workshops on investing, it does a great job of laying the foundation for further learning about the fundamentals of investing. I will be recommending it to family members, our investment club, friends and when ever the subject of investing comes up.
