I would have appreciated knowing this prior to renting, I probably would have chosen to purchase a new copy if I know this is what I'd be getting. The cover is rolled so it doesn't stay flat shut and there are stains on the pages. It's honestly pretty gross. I wish there were a way to exchange the book.

Human resource professionals, who were earlier regarded as personnel staff responsible for maintaining personal files of employees, now were looked upon as potential partners in the strategic decision making processes of the organization. Joseph Martocchio's Employee Benefits: A Primer for Human Resource Professionals was written to promote a fuller understanding of employee benefits programs among students enrolled in college-level compensation and benefits course. It is relevant to students who plan to be general managers who deal with a variety of human resource issues in their day-to-day jobs as well as to those who expect to be human resource practitioners. The real-world focus of Martocchio’s text is evident on every page, as he seeks to balance current academic thought with brief examples of contemporary benefits practices in business. Future employees and managers will gain a more complete understanding of the broader context of benefits management - not only the how but also the why companies provide benefits they do. Future practitioners will use this book as an introductory reference guide, one that will enable them to put benefit practices into their appropriate context, and to orient them toward asking the "right" questions of experts related to employee benefits, like accountants, attorneys, government bodies, etc.

Martocchio's Employee Benefits is forward-thinking and seeks to bring the topic into the mainstream of compensation understanding. Despite its importance, benefits tend not to be very well understood mainly because of the vast array of regulations that govern employee benefits practices, and because of the wide variety of practices in benefits administration due to employers tailoring their own programs for competitive advantage and to the needs and preferences of their workforces.

I bought this book to have on hand, even though through my course, I had access to a digital version. There's something about being able to tag pages with important information, and highlighting passages that makes me able to retain the information better. The book itself is very well written. At the beginning of each chapter it covers what you will learn, and at the end it reviews what you should have learned.

Book arrived as stated but it contained pages highlighted in blue. The book was suppose to be new.
Other than that looks like typical book.

This was order and it said some wear. It didn't state that pages would be stuck together and gross on the side. I would appreciate it if you would resend a better copy of this book and I will be happy to return this copy.

I needed this text book for class, it is easy to read and contains a lot of information. Main terms are in bold text, making it easier to see.
