The Economics of Francois Quesnay. When François Quesnay began to publish on economics there were unmistakable indications that fundamental change was required in France. François Quesnay (1694-1774), the founder of the economic system that eventually came to be called the physiocratic system, was born in the village of Méré, not far from Versailles.
