I'm on my 7th copy of this book. I always end up giving a copy to someone with kids who wants to do hiking. My new GF is a Nanny so had to buy again so we can take the kids places this summer. Best book of it's kind. I'm a North West native and avid hiker. Totally recommend.
We recently moved to western WA with our two young kids and are always looking for places to explore on the weekends. This book offers great hikes and activities to do with kids. The book is divided by region, which helps with planning day and weekend trips. The hikes include pictures and detailed instructions on how to get to the places. The hikes are rated so you know how to adjust for the age and stamina of the kids. Great purchase!
Bought this for my 7 year old so we can explore new hikes. He's excited to have some new spots to go this summer
The book is impossible to read without cutting apart each page. The pages were never cut in the manufacturing of this book. Also, numbers referencing different hikes in the book are wrong. Thankfully the index so far seem to be accurate. Overall the book quality is awful.
I have purchased several copies of this book, everytime a new edition comes out actually. I can't believe I am the first to review it. If you are a parent and you are new to hiking with kids in the western Washington region this will probably be the only book you need. It is superbly written, with great details on the hike itself, knowing ahead of time what difficulty level you are facing is a must in my opinion, as well as directions on how to find the trail head, tips and tricks to hiking with your children in a way that you will all enjoy it and so much more. I highly reccomend this book, you will not be disapointed.
Some maps are not accurate, but the advice are good. Combine it with Google Map and/or MapMyHike to get accurate map and it's really a good book.
Good information. Just wish print was a little bigger.
Good detail
