So says the new travel guide "Fodor's Gay Guide to the USA: The Most Comprehensive Guide .

The guide, released this month, is by no means the first aimed at gay travelers. But Fodor's has been promoting the book to beat the band, running advertisements in publications like Vanity Fair featuring well-known gay men and lesbians, and sponsoring "circuit parties" around the country that are expected to draw thousands of homosexuals. It is the single title we've spent more money on than any other," said David Roth, associate publisher at Fodor's. Finally Fodor's brings the gold standard to gay travelers.

The most comprehensive guide to the USA expressly for gay and lesbian travelers; engaging and insightful, personable and chatty; a guide with attitude covering 40 cities and other travel destinations nationwide.

I think Andrew Collins did a good job of summarizing the scene in each city listed. It's obviously the most thorough first-hand accounts of the nation's gay cities on the market.

I bought this book back in 2001 for a trip to New York. Not knowing anything about "the city", I needed some help. Along with this one, I purchased a few other guides focusing on gay oriented places in the U.S. and New York, but this one was far better. With it's insightful mini reviews of places shown in the guide, I got ALOT from this book. From places to stay, to places to see, it'll give you a great base to start with when trying to find nightlife, or otherwise, in ANY new city. I'm taking it back with me again to New York and to Seattle this time. But, be weary, as with any guide, places change, and what you read might not be as bad as it says it is, or it could be worse! Thanks for reading.

The book is well organized for an easy finding of where in the country you want to visit, if where you plan to visit is listed! Check out the TOC before buying...
To me, the biggest let down was an absence of gay cruising places. I'm an old man and don't care for the wild hunting for hot spots. There are cities' "Little Black Books" on media, bookstores and working out. Good thing I bought it for the traditional "lay-of-the-land" (good) and "Sleeps" (very good).
