I teach Spanish to all levels, and I use this book above all others. The book is very good for beginners. The explanations are easy to understand. This book is perfect for those that have either had some Spanish and have forgotten much of it or for those to boost their Spanish after the first year. Since there is no recording, it is not recommended to be used on its own. I especially love how the beginning chapter lets you realize how many words you already know in Spanish just because of the similarities between English and Spanish. The progressions is easy to follow. Ar verbs are presented in Chapter four after the pronouns were presented in chapter 3. There are simple readings that go along with the vocabulary and there is a small cultural section in each chapter.

Realistic

As a private foreign language teacher to adults and children alike, I am constantly searching for strong teaching materials. The Spanish is Fun (and French is Fun) series from Amsco are the best I have found. Lessons appeal to adult and children alike (though geared toward children and teens). Lessons are well laid out, and in addition to quizzes, the book provides unit tests and more comprehensive achievement tests. Workbooks (cuarderno) and audio learning cds are also available. You can't go wrong with this series!

I bought these for my kids because I had used a later edition of the book to teach myself Spanish several years ago. This particular edition would require a textbook as well because no instruction is provided in this workbook. The edition of the book that came out in the 2000's is wonderful, this one is not so great.

As a foreign language instructor to home-schooled students, I search high and low for entertaining, easy-to-use textbooks. Spanish is Fun (and French is Fun series) exceed my expectations! Get the cuarderno to use along with the master textbook, Spanish is Fun, Book I. Also buy the audio cds if you can find them. Amsco publishes all of these materials. I highly recommend them!

I got this for my mom's noncredit Spanish class about 3 years ago, and I studied this in my spare time when she finished the class (not for a class though for me). I learned quite a bit of the basics just spending 2-3 hours "skimming" the book than reading a high end high jargon Spanish book. I highly recommend this book. SPANISH IS FUN!! :)

The book itself is ok but it was used and written in. I'm spending a lot of time erasing things. But...the book itself is alright.
