Victoria and the Rogue book. Victoria and the Rogue is one of my top favourites because, unusually for Meg Cabot, it’s a period setting – fun and flirting in the 19th Century? Yes please. Victoria is a sassy, independent heroine with an endearing bossy streak.

5 stars: Loved it!

I read this book for the first time not long after it was originally published... maybe around 14 or 15 years ago. I was perusing the public library as a young teen and came across the Avon True Romance collection (for teens) and started my entry into the world of romance. This one was by far one of my favorites of that series. The cover was different back then too and included a realistic picture of Victoria and Jacob, and I was just so drawn to what I thought was a mischievous grin on Victoria's face.

I love historical romance and I particularly love the idea of a girl coming from a different place (in this case India) and just shaking up the stiff English expectations. Victoria was a bulldozer of a character and had a lot of self-reflection to do. And Jacob was a swoon-worthy hero.

I've read this several times since that first one. I've even read it recently though I graduated into more adult romance a while ago. This one is just timeless and it will bring a smile to your face.

The shipping was fast, so I got my book in good time. It was well used, but still very readable.
It was old and so I was impressed when it didn't even have a scratch on it. Excellent book by the way. Meg Cabot's spin on a Jane Austen-esque tale is excellent. Thumbs up for this book.
