When I first started, I had little knowledge of how to make my own graphics. Other books I tried to read were too advanced and were confusing to someone just starting out. I wanted to create my own graphics instead of using clip art which most graphics books don't cover. This book has familiarized me with PSP and I now feel very comfortable using the program. It is easy to read and understand, and it is well-written. It also teaches you some very cool techniques! The author is very nice and will respond if you need help with anything and that in itself is invaluable!

I bought Paint Shop Pro and read through the manual, walking away confused. After getting this book, I felt like I now understand how to make graphics come alive. Not only does it teach you all about GIFs and JPGs (which the manual barely does to the same depth) but you have color examples and techniques to read through. The photo-retouching technique (red-eye removal) alone made this book worth its weight in gold.

I ordered this book with the upgrade and can't say enough good things. I really enjoyed the vivid colors and all of the real-life examples sprinkled through out - especially the red-eye removing technique.
Anyone looking to learn how to use Paint Shop Pro 5 should pick up this book - the author even responds to e-mail questions and comments!

I think all these instruction manuals are written by people who have no common sense or have no ability to explain in plain English.

I picked up this book with Paint Shop Pro 5 and think it is great! The color examples and techniques were great additions and showed me how to make neat images for my Web site. I really appreciated the step-by-step walkthrough of Layers and the Animation Shop!

Dispite a couple bad rewiews, I purchased the book anyway. My mistake! This book is for people wanting to make cute little home pages with pics of their kitty, just like the author. It shows how to crop and paint a little but not much more than that. I learned as much just tinkering with the PSP prog as I did from the book. He promotes his website like it is some type of dynamic creation. It in fact is a lousy little site with pics of his kitty. The author uses it merely to try to sell more books. Unbelievable! Don't be another sucker and buy this pittiful excuse for a manual. (The PSP manual is almost as good.) Purchase something with some guts to it!

This book is really great. I used it in my ZDU class and it had all the answers that I could even think of asking. Paint Shop Pro software is cool too. You have to have a color book to learn the software well and it has much more than the manual.
This book is pretty good for its small size. It discusses layers, filters, transparent gif's, and much more. Don't expect this book to make you a graphics whiz but it deffinately will teach you some new tricks! My only one complaint about this book is its constant endorsment of Paint Shop Pro as opposed to those oh so expensive over done complicated (CaOdUoGbHe) programs that fall short to PSP "superiorority" LOL =) Good Book Though...
