Macs For Dummies - Edward C. Baig. A word about the For Dummies franchise, of which I’m proud to be a part: These books are built around the idea that all of us feel like dopes whenever we tackle something new, especially when the subject at hand (technology) reeks with a jargon-y stench. I happen to know that you don’t have a dummy bone in your body, and the publishers at Wiley know it too.

I have to admit I am not very computer literate, and unfortunately this book was way beyond my comprehension. However, for those who have a basic understanding of MAC computers, it is probably a good learning tool. I had an iMAC computer for about six months and sold it to someone who had worn hers out, a good solution for both of us - she is an expert user of iMAC and is still using it two years down the road.
When I got my Macbook this summer, I honestly felt like someone who gets a regular computer for the first time. LOST. Mac's are unique and the commands and mouse pad are like nothing else. This little guide is very easy to read, has plenty of in-depth articles for those who what to know the why, but is quick to get you up and running without the fluff. After 3 weeks, I was editing music, had taken control of my web site as the master, and was editing photos and making making movies like I had used the software forever.
Good reference book.
I came from a PC never even thinking I could afford or even understand a Mac. I saved my pennies(hehe),and went to a Best Buy store and took the plunge. I will never go back to a PC! The book was great-it shows you every part of your Mac. How to set up your email to going on the net. I recommend it!!!
The book is not very helpful. I've used PC since their inception and to get my mind around Apple I needed much more than this book. The author didn't seem to know what was important and finding something was almost impossible-the index was lame. My advice-go to the Apple store and take the course.
This book is written on such a simplistic level that it ends up providing very little help. It might be of use if you have never used a computer before and don't get out of your cave very often.
This was certainly a useful book when I purchased my first Mac. Clearly the book is written for a wide audience so some things seem too simple, but that is fine. It helped me get along more easily and that was the point of the book and it delivered on that.
This is my first Mac and it will be all I ever get anymore. This book is very helpful and yet not complicated to follow.
