Philip A. Bernstein (Author), Vassos Hadzilacos (Author), Nathan Goodman (Author) & 0 more. This book is fantastic, and per the title, absolutely the first thing I reach for when I need to develop or design transaction systems. Be aware that this book is what it claims to be on the cover. It will likely be interesting to people using a database or other transactional system, but is unlikely to be directly relevant. Instead it is focused on the theory you need to know if you are developing or designing such a system, and here it excels.

Bernstein, Philip A. Concurrency control and recovery in data . Concurrency control and recovery in data-. Systems that solve the concurrency control and recovery problems allow their users to assume that each of their programs executes atomically - as if no other programs were executing concurrently - and reliably - as if there were no failures. This abstraction of an atomic and reliable execution of a program is called a transaction.
Distributed concurrency control is the concurrency control of a system distributed over a computer .
Distributed concurrency control is the concurrency control of a system distributed over a computer network (Bernstein et al. 1987, Weikum and Vossen 2001). In database systems and transaction processing (transaction management) distributed concurrency control refers primarily to the concurrency control of a distributed database. Concurrency Control and Recovery in Database Systems, coauthored with Vassos Hadzilacos and Nathan Goodman, is downloadable for free from here. From 2000 – 2011 I led the Model Management Project, whose goal was to make database systems easier to use for model-driven applications, such as design tools, message translators, and database translators. I also worked on mapping, especially in support of the AD. ET Entity Framework.
This free book is about techniques for concurrency control and recovery. Author(s) Philip A. It covers techniques for centralized and distributed computer systems, and for single copy, multiversion, and replicated databases. free book at FreeComputerBooks. Book excerpts: This book is about techniques for concurrency control and recovery. A concurrency control algorithm ensures that transactions execute atomically.
