Brian McFarlane (born August 10, 1931) is a Canadian television sportscaster and author. He is the son of the prolific writer Leslie McFarlane who wrote many of the early Hardy Boys books. He is best known as a broadcaster on Hockey Night In Canada and as an author of hockey books.

Brian McFarlane is one of the most prolific and knowledgeable hockey writers around, and he did hockey fans everywhere a favor when he published his Original Six series: one book each about the Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. His book "The Habs," which chronicles the history of the Montreal Canadiens ("les habitants"), is full of highlights - no surprise, since the Canadiens are the most successful team in NHL history.

For CBS, he was the first Canadian hockey personality on American television, and later he brought the game to millions of fans on NBC. Over his illustrious career he has interviewed all the great players, from Gordie Howe to Wayne Gretzky, and many entertainment giants, including Bing Crosby and Mike Myers.

Since the establishment of the Montreal Canadiens on December 3, 1909, as part of the then newly created National Hockey Association, the Flying Frenchmen have thrilled and delighted their fans with some of the best hockey in the history of the game.
