John Stewart is Professor of Speech Communication at the University of Washington and director of the basic interpersonal communication course. His other text is Bridges Not Walls.

I love this book because it has good advice and it’s easy to read. There are plenty of examples of dialog. I keep this and work. Sometimes I just open it up and read a couple of paragraphs. It helps me. The title is also a good reminder. I want to keep building bridges, not burn them down. Words work for me. This book has helped me refrain from using destructive language. I didn’t read it cover to cover. I just open it up and read parts of it. The first time I borrowed it from the library. I wanted a copy to of my own to read from time-to-time.
