This e-book is a work of fiction. While reference might be made to actual historical events or existing locations, the names, characters, places and incidents are either the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously, and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, business establishments, events, or locales is entirely coincidental. The Desires of the Otherworld series takes place in the mortal and Otherworld realms. In Darkest Hunger, the mortal realm is visited briefly on Samhain, the only night the portals open between the realms.

Staring over his shoulder, he observed her closely. Willow was quie. oo quiet. jeans and a formfitting white cotton T-shirt, ready for travel. He assumed she would ask questions. Instead, she adhered to his requests without speaking, followed him dutifully down the hallway and staircase, and strode past his servants and kindred with her head held high.

This is the second book in the Desires of the Otherworld series and some of the same characters appear in it with the two new main ones, it is yet again a different strand to Aline Hunter's bow! With hot steamy scenes and a twisting tale with plenty of action to keep you entertained and turning the pages, looking forward to many more books in the series. 2 people found this helpful.

Spoiler alert-
The hero watched his mate get physically brutalized and never interfered. Yes, he didn't know she was not immortal (recently met her) but he was still ok with her suffering great pain. I can't forgive that. H/h never talked about it just with other people. Because of this the book leaves me cold. At the end I am left cold concerning the H/h relationship even knowing the hero would never repeat the mistake. I also thought the Heroine forgave way too easily. Maybe my feelings would of changed if the characters got a chance to process what happened. The author writes well and as the reader you want to learn more about the characters world and the creatures in it.

This is one of those stories that I almost liked, but it falls short for me.

Here's why:

-Poor pacing: I skipped quite a few pages because I was bored out of my mind through the second half of the book

-Too many species: Dragon-men, fae, vampires, witches, brownies, God guardians, think there were shifters and Ring Wraiths too. I might have even made an appearance. The problem was that at times I wasn't sure who was what, why that was important and who I was supposed to like. I needed a better focus.

-Too much with too little: see above. If the focus was better, I think I might have cared more about the characters.

-One dimensional: only one character actually showed growth and he's not a main character. The rest were annoyingly either good or bad and the only growth you see is superficial.

-I didn't actually like the love story. It's partly to do with the characters themselves and partly to do with the telling of their story. It was trite and a bit too easy. If we're not going to do much with it then I prefer that it's not used at all. However, it's actually central to the story so I sort of need to buy into it and I simply didn't.

-Casserole: This is a mishmash of a lot of different stories, myths, and plots. Nothing is really new, but I'd hoped that I couldn't actually name the different elements.

Overall, I just wasn't impressed. It's a solid enough read, but missing the vital spark.

I admit my motives for reading this book were less than honorable .. I really just wanted to read about some good sex with an alpha male and i knew this autor could deliver that. Consider me ashamed. lol

THIS BOOK WAS WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MORE THAN THAT.

I do believe I have been taken on an unexpected adventure.
The plot, the writing, the characters, and the paranormal aspect were excellently executed.
I like the whole glamour thing, it was interesting and new for me.
The fight seens were kick ass, even though I sometimes found myself a little lost. It didnt make the story any less enjoyable though.
I could find no complaints with the timeframe or the way the romance unfolded, it was VERY NICELY DONE!

Runa to me is the type of heroine/female lead that I like. She embodies the characterization of strong for me. She can defend herself and she lets her man be her hero when it is neccessary. She is not obnoxious and she does not try to lead her mate around by the balls. She forgives him in a good amount of time and you can tell she cares for him.

Eric is a male. A strong sexy alpha kind of male. I've seen how some are offended by how he let her get beat up or whatever. Im on the fence with that I feel like he was opperating under the assumption that she could not be hurt and it seemed like she could crush the deamon. Now im sure that if she showed signs of distress that made it obvious she needed help, he would have stepped in. also factor in he didnt not choose her as a mate fate did so I dont see why people think he would feel obligated to fight a battle that she was "physically" handling herself. enough of that. I luv Eric he's a stud muffin.

the secondary characters were so well formed that im looking forward to the next book.

overall this book was very well done

The only thing I did not like was the talking into other peoples mind its just cheesy to me, Not saying she did it in a cheesy way, but I just dont like it.
