Cameron McCormick grows up in a convent in Canada. She knows that she has a father in the United States and she also knows that her father has sent her to the nuns to protect her from a certain danger. But what about her mother? And what exactly is that danger that keeps her from being reunited with her family? Eventually her father sends for her but the family reunion is far from what she expected. But this isn't the only surprise Cameron will face: her dream man, Michael Gray who helped her some years ago in Canada to take care of an injured nurse, reappears in Virginia. How come and why is he using another name?

Although this plot had a lot of potential I felt that it didn't come up to my expectations. The story line started interestingly but faltered gradually and towards the end it was just an ordinary and predictable western romance. There was very little character development, atmosphere and tension, hence the book just floated along without keeping me really riveted. Maybe this can be explained by the fact that the book was initially published in 1985 and I'm meanwhile just used to reading a different kind of western romance? Maybe amazon should've pointed this out?!

I lost interest quickly. It's probably OK but decided it was my taste. I seemed to move kind of slow, and wasn't getting to the point.
