The Isle Series: Book Two After a whirlwind vacation on the Isle of Wight. However, it seems to me that the book also succumbed to typical first-sequel disease: characters brought over from the previous book no longer develop, but take up enough space that we're robbed of more insight into the MCs in the sequel. The book had a totally implausible "barely knew you for a day or so, but we're in love for life" plot and a feeble hit-and-run as the main conflict which was resolved in about three pages (the mystery was terribly feeble, actually) with the entire middle third of the book squandered on convalescence.

Life on the Isle of the Lost-where all the villain folk had been banished after King Beast united all the good kingdoms and exiled all the evildoers and their snarky sidekicks-was already difficult. For one, an impenetrable dome covered the island and its surrounding waters, keeping out any source of magic, as well as every kind of Wi-Fi network. Let’s get her! Cruella was a nemesis of theirs. As one of the only citizens on the Isle who wasn’t afraid of Maleficent or Ursula, the Dalmatian-obsessed lady never hesitated to pinch their ears when they tried to make her their victim. They were determined to get her back one of these days, but they’d have to be crafty.

The Isle Series: Book One

When Liam Marshall’s best friend, Alex, loses his fight with colon cancer, he leaves Liam one final request: buy a ticket to Ryde, on the Isle of Wight, and scatter Alex’s ashes off the pier. Liam is tired, worn out, and in desperate need of a vacation, but instead of sun, sea, sand, and hot cabana boys, he gets a rickety old train, revolting kids, and no Ewan MacGregor.

Liam would have done anything for his friend, but fulfilling Alex’s final wish means letting go of the only family Liam had left. Lost, he freezes on the pier… until Sam Owens comes to his rescue.

Sam’s family has vacationed on the Isle of Wight every year for as long as he can remember, but he’s never met anyone like Liam. Determined to make Liam’s vacation one to remember, Sam looks after him—in and out of the bedroom. He even introduces Liam to his entire family. But as Sam helps Liam let go, he’s forced to admit that he wants Liam to hang on—not to his old life, but to Sam and what they have together.

I was drawn into this book. Whenever I had to stop (to work) I felt a great sense of loss. Then I would go back and feel at home again. What a lovely family these two have.

Now the book is done but in my mind the story continues. Perhaps I will see them all again? Just a short trip to the pages of this wonderful story. Thanks Ms. Brown!
Liam is broken by his best friends death following a battle with colon cancer. Sam has always given his heart to freely and been devastated by betrayal. These two are able to build a future by supporting each other thru their trials and tribulations. I cried watching these two strong wonderful men work together to find a future together.

I love Sue Brown's writing so I enjoyed this book but I prefer her angstier work. This is a relatively light story with a little angst, a little sugar, and great characters. I think the grandmother is one of my all time favorites.

Part of a series but reads well as a standalone
This is the 2nd m/m book I've read set on the Isle of Wight and both were great. Surprisingly both were about American writers This one had quite a bit of steamy sex so if you like that you will like this. This is about a 35-yr-old man who comes to the island to spread his best friends ashes. What he finds along the way is ...... Well you can probably guess without me having to spoil it. It's a well-written book and definitely a nice read.
I just finished this book and i have to say it is my all time favorite. I laughed and cried several time. This is a great love story and i would recommend it to everyone. I have read many of Sue Browns books and all of them have left me wanting more. All of her books are well written and emotional and have the right balance of plot, emotion and sex. none of it is over powering. You really fall for the characters and (at least I ) found my self thinking of them when i was not reading the book. To me that is a great book. Enjoy
His best friend Alex passed away after a long illness, Liam took care of him until the end. Alex sent him on a journey to spread his ashes , where Liam meet Sam. Love wins out and the journey is more than either if them expects.
Sue Wright brings another fabulous story to life as the reader is drawn into the plot quickly, convincingly and with taste. While the thought of instant attraction and/or love at first sight eludes many, it does happen, and as this story unfolds, creates the believability that it has happened in your own life. This is a story of true friendship, and of finding love in all the weirdest of places, will capture and keep your attention to the very end.

The second, even third, time around brings together the small details hidden away between the lines and succeeds in bringing to life all of the characters involved. Highly recommended reading...and much more than the usual M/M will leave you looking for a follow up.
It was funny and sexy
