The Most Marvellous Summer book. Published in 1992, The Most Marvellous Summer is one of her later works – and it is sublime. As far as TBR Challenges go, comfort reads always makes for a tough prompt. My definition of a comfort read generally involves rereading a much-loved book. It doesn’t do much to whittle down the TBR mountain, but such is life. After some thought and rummaging through my bookcases, I surfaced with a Betty Neels book I somehow hadn’t read.

Matilda had every quality that turned a man's head, but she had remained heart-whole and fancy-free despite a number of offers. In most of Neels' works the heroine is plain or plump, with mousy brown hair and fine grey eyes. This is one of the exceptions, where she's strikingly pretty, but with unfortunate red hair and flashing green eyes. She is sensible, smart, multi talented, and happens to be a cordon bleu cook without credentials.

The hero seldom changes. He's huge, rich, handsome, and a medical marvel. He falls in love with her on sight, but never lets on. He has a stunning evil fiancee, who cares more for his money than for him. The tale tells how the two principals untangle their lives and finally get together. And no matter how many times we read stories much like this, Betty Neels draws us,in with another variation on the Cinderella theme.

I started reading Betty Neels books over 40 years ago and never tire of re-reading her books. They are full of adventure and describe the Netherland and England and make you feel as if you are there. I really like the fact that they are coming out on Kindle since my eye sight is not what it used to be.

No nurse story but a halfway pretty girl with lots of common sense and wit about her, practical too. Delightful

Betty Neels books have been around for numerous years, they are not current works. Her story formula for all her books were the same, in a way that is what I like about them. They are always simple and sweet romances.

Nice story. Doctor meets girl. Girl falls in love. Doctor enhaged to another. But love always wins in the end!

As usual Betty Neels has hit it again with a great story to read. She makes you feel like you are the one she is writing about and you are living the story. She will be missed!

Wow!!! This book was a lovely surprise. Clean, funny, romantic book. I will definitely check out more books from this author!
I found the storyline interesting since the main character had a profession other than nursing. In addition, there were two storylines going through two romances developing. Betty Neels is one of my favorite authors, and her different story locations are educational for me.
