If you are looking for a terrific paranormal contemporary romance, you need look no further than Beside a Dreamswept Sea. The writing is so good, that I had no difficulty in believing in Tony, a kind, loving, honorable ghost who "lives" at the Seascape Inn. Tony's mission, along with Hattie (his sweetheart for the past 51 years), is to help "special guests" find true love. This is the third book of a series, and I didn't read the first two, so there are some details missing that are part of the story but the book is complete in itself. Cally (Caline) and Bryce try not to fall in love with each other (or admit it to each other when they do) because of their tragic pasts, yet they acknowledge their mutual love for Bryce's three children. Susie, who is nine years old, has been plagued by the same nightmare (which is really a premonition) for the past two years, since her mother's death, and Tony is the first person who can actually help her. The people all have well-developed, complex personalities and the dialogue is wonderfully authentic. The imagery is fantastic; you can nearly hear the ocean surf and I could almost see the people and scenery of Seahaven. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend that you get it ASAP so you can enjoy it too.
Every time I read one of Vicki Hinze's Seascape novels, I fall in love with Seahaven Inn and Miss Hattie all over again. There are very few books that I don't ever want to end, but all the books in the Seascape series (Upon a Mystic Tide and Beyond the Misty Shore) fit that description. Beside a Dreamswept Sea is a heart-warming, paranormal romance filled with emotion and drama and just enough humor to make the reader smile every now and again. As usual, Hinze has well-drawn characters, a beautiful setting and page-turning intensity.
"Beside a Dreamswept Sea" is not at all my usual cup of tea. I think that I decided to try it because I have done a lot of dreamwork in my life. The author was sympathetic to my various points of view, and she really respected her characters' lives and work. At the beginning of the book, I was concerned that she was going to clutter up the book with every stereotype known. I changed my mind by the second chapter, and by the end of the book, I thought that Hinze had woven in every thread to make a really elegant tapestry of a book.
This story struck a chord and held me to the end. It made me believe that miracles can happen. The author has a way of wrapping the reader in the story. I will definitely be looking for more of her books. Anyone who likes a little fantasy with their romance will enjoy it.
Dead Samurai
This is one of the best stories I have read in a long time. I have been married 57 years and this book made me rethink some of my feelings about marriage and loving one person.
Not to much to say about this story. So her story is the same nothing different. But I like it
All three books were just fabulous. Vicki is a great writer who puts a new twist on slavery.once you start reading the first book you can't wait for the other two to follow really enjoyed this
I started the book and discovered it wasn't what I was expecting. So, I didn't finish the book. It just didn't hold interest for me.
