Morning by Morning, Rewritten and Updated. Bridge-Logos Publishing, 2000, Trade Paperback. Author Bio. ▼▲. Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) served for 30 years at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London. It is estimated that during his lifetime he spoke to 10 million people, and he became known as the "Prince of Preachers.

Morning devotions anchor the soul so that it is less likely to stumble on the day’s journey. Spurgeon said that to rush from bed to business without first talking with God is as foolish as forgetting to bathe or dress or as unwise as dashing into battle without arms or armor. A day of grace begins with time spent alone with God.

For over one hundred years, Christians have gotten up and gone to bed with Charles Spurgeon's devotional Morning and Evening as a companion.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) was an English Particular Baptist preacher. Spurgeon remains highly influential among Christians of various denominations, among whom he is known as the "Prince of Preachers". He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church of his day.

2402 quotes from Charles Haddon Spurgeon: 'There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech.

Beautiful cover; love individual daily devotional pages for a year, and never tire or rereading it; wonderful, profound, insightful author-
Charles Haden Spurgeon, who honors the Lord in reminding us of our need for God, our surrender to His ways-the best for us, immersing ourself in God's truth, and to be prayerful so "that we can be the earthen vessels for God to pour out the treasure of His gospel" to others.

Both editions are excellent (Kindle and book). The content is, of course, pure Spurgeon, and always worth reading. The Kindle edition has a good navigation system so you can find the day of the year easily. and there aren't those annoying spelling errors marring the text. I've had many devotional books for daily readings, and this is my favorite because of how Spurgeon manages to teach lessons daily that stay fresh and thought provoking.
I am generally satisfied with this edition of Spurgeon's Morning and Evening. However, I bought it for a relatively new Christian, so I was drawn to that part of the title which reads, "A Contemporary version of a devotional classic." Not everyone can read Spurgeon's florid, Victorian prose with ease. I was quite disappointed then to find out that the text had not been altered, at least not in any significant way. It still had all the '-eths' and the thee's and thou's. Still a nice edition, but the 'Contemporary' in the title is misleading at best. Let the buyer beware!
I have loved these modern language rendering of great works from the old English era, this one is a particular favorite.
Gift for my sister. She loves it. She would highly recommend this book.
The daily readings are just the right length.
Book just as stated, thank you.
This devotional along with evening by evening is the most enjoyable and spiritual nourishment to my soul other than the Bible.
Very best daily devotional I've ever read. Bought extra copies so I can give to others! Life Changing!
