If one wants a critical take on Barth, this is not the book for you (though admittedly Torrance asks some challenging questions throughout). I'm still working through what I think of his final chapter. I'm unsure about how accurately it reflects on the history of theology and it's usefulness to ecumenical dialogue.

Arguably Barth's most brilliant student, and the man chosen to replace Barth upon retirement, Torrance is the one we need to make Barth accessible and more well understood. This is an excellent book on an important theological subject.

Torrance is easy to read. He wrote in English so the translation problem is not a fatcor. Karl Barth is put into terms that, at least I, found insightful.

Written by a student of Barth who best understands him in our time. I must read for all who would seek to grasp the relationship between Barth, Torrance, and the challenge they are today for us.
