Indeed, they argue that we have already found evidence for life on Mars . By Dirk Schulze-Makuch and David Darling Oneworld Publications, 208pp, £1. 9. ISBN 9781851687190 Published 25 March 2010.

Indeed, they argue that we have already found evidence for life on Mars, and plausible evidence for life in a number of other solar system locations, extending from the clouds of Venus to the icy moons of the giant planets. For reasons well articulated in this book, it would be somewhat surprising if life never arose on Mars, but there is no royal road to obtaining a definitive answer - this will come only by exploring the planet in much more detail. The same applies to the other possible locations for life discussed in the book.

by Dirk Schulze-Makuch and David Darling. This groundbreaking book demonstrates that between the results of the 1976 Viking I lander and the latest scientific discoveries from fertile Martian soil to microbe-ridden meteorites there is a powerful case for life on the Red Planet and beyond. Dirk Schulze-Makuch is Associate Professor in Astrobiology at Washington State University.

In this first of three books that I’ve coauthored with astrobiologist Dirk Schulze-Makuch, we build a strong case for the existence of life on other worlds in the solar system and beyond. Taking weird organisms on Earth as our starting point, including ice-loving bugs and microbes living in boiling hot acid, we explore what forms life might take and where it is likely to reside

Dirk Schulze-Makuch (author), David Darling (author). The arguments advanced for the prevalence of life in the solar system are well developed and highly stimulating.

Excellent roundup of the efforts to find extraterrestrial life beyond earth.

If you are interested in the possibility of life beyond Earth, I recommend that you read this book. I am only half way through it. But it is exciting to know that there is strong evidence out there that suggests that there is life on other planets.

This book is OK but not in the same class as Paul Davies' new book "The Erie Silence".

This wonderful book gives you the state of the art in the search of extraterrestrial life in our solar system. From the controversial findings in martian meteorites, to the promising environment of Saturn's moon Titan, we learn that extraterrestrial life is possible on a variety of abodes. we have only to go and try to find them. And what this entails about the possibilities of life outside the Solar System? in the final chapters the Authors give some interesting speculations on this topic.
A book to read, highly recommended!

This book is written incredibly well. I'm amazed at how Dirk can speak to a specialist and to the general public. The book is very cleverly written with just the right mix of hard science and fascinating and delightfully enjoyable reading. Dirk offers a plethora of information about the current state of the astrobiological quest, coming through with the scientific details but making them accessible to non-specialists. And this is so because Dirk is a top planetary scientist who also happens to be a gifted writer and communicator. Also, this is the very first book dealing with the issue of life in the Universe that seriously considers the possibility that we have already found life in other planets, and this awesome conclusion is based on a solid revisit of the scientific evidence gathered during the last decades of spatial exploration. I highly recommend this book to any person that is interested in the planetary exploration and the search for life elsewhere. This is an excellent book in every way imaginable.
