Near-Death Experiences: The Rest of the Story: What They Teach Us About Living and Dying and Our True Purpose. I was looking for a book with just the stories of "near death experiences" or NDE's. This book is just that simply the recounting of their experiences by twenty people.

Near-Death Experiences: The Rest of the Story: What They Teach Us About Living and Dying and Our True Purpose. Most books spend over half the pages telling you why or why not these things are possible. As a believer in NDE's I just wanted to get it from the horse's mouth. This is just that; a book with very few conclusions that are trying to make their point of view.

Powerful, challenging and endlessly fascinating, The Day I Died celebrates both pleasurable and distressing near-death experiences when death came calling, but left empty-handed.

Near-Death Experiences. The light at the end of the tunnel. Many people have had transcendent near-death experiences in moments of extreme physical distress. The reappearance of long-dead ancestors and visitations from spectral strangers. Whatever the scientific or spiritual explanation - or lack thereof - these stories have value for the teller and listener alike. After writing the massively best-selling ‘The Five People You Meet in Heaven,’ Mitch Albom heard numerous stories from readers with their own transcendent moments.

This clip comes from an original documentary produced by Norman Van Rooy called "Shadows - Perceptions of Near Death Experiencers".

Unabridged Audiobook.

The Day I Died brings together 10 profoundly moving testimonies from people who have passed through the limits of human endurance and beyond. Around the world, ordinary people go about their daily lives convinced they've had a glimpse into the afterlife. Their eyewitness accounts often share uncanny similarities, and this book does justice to this beguiling subject by analyzing narratives and shedding light on a phenomenon at the crossroads of the medical and the mystical. Tammy Cohen presents several intriguing real-life accounts, including a man who "died" on the operating table and awoke with increased psychic abilities, a victim of domestic abuse who had a life-changing unusual out-of-body experience, plus stories from people who had "drowned" and "died" of heart attacks. Powerful, challenging, and endlessly fascinating, The Day I Died celebrates both pleasurable and distressing near-death experiences.

I was looking for a book with just the stories of "near death experiences" or NDE's. This book is just that simply the recounting of their experiences by twenty people. Most books spend over half the pages telling you why or why not these things are possible. As a believer in NDE's I just wanted to get it from the horse's mouth. This is just that; a book with very few conclusions that are trying to make their point of view.

I know most people want to read NDE's that support their religious beliefs. That is why it has not gotten more five star reviews. This has very few that support most religions. I like the ones that assure me of a place in heaven, but since these people did not have that type of experience I do not discount their veracity.

I truly believe we find what our faith expects. These may not be religious experiences, but they are surely valid. I was impressed that all felt a sense of love, and no desire to return to this existance. They were also deeply moved to tell others so that death could loose it's sting. One has gone so far as to write and publish two books on the experience, at his own expense.

I found the book very interesting and informative. The NDE's are clear and each person was allowed to tell his or her own story in their own words. If you are looking for a book with just the stories this is a good one.

I really wanted to like this book. What I wanted: NDE stories vividly told. What I got: Stories about people's childhoods, their lives, their jobs, their friends, their interests, their fears, their love lives, their mothers, their accidents, their recoveries---in short about everything but NDE. My guess is 5% of the words in this book describe the actual NDE of the storytellers. If that's enough for you, you'll love it. It wasn't enough for me.

I like the format - twenty different people get to tell of their near-death experiences, although one or two of them seemed more like nightmare dream-states while they were in a coma, rather than NDE's.
I guess it's my choice to believe that true NDE's are indisputably 'positive' experiences.
I enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone interested in near-death expierences - just skip over the bad trips.

This collection of near death experiences were interesting but after reading a few of the accounts, the stories became quite tedious and boring to read. A bit more editing might be needed here. This is a book I will not keep in my library.
