You Were Created To Be Free

When you were a child, nothing held you back. You cried when you felt like crying, screamed when you were angry and laughed when you wanted to laugh. You were vulnerable, dependent and felt no shame about your need. You simply were who you were.

This doesn't last long. As we grow, human expectations and judgment do something to us that God never intended. We become ashamed of who we are and learn that it's wrong to express what we're feeling. But that isn't what God wants for us. He wants us to break free from the bonds that others have placed on us throughout our childhood and adult lives, and find our way back to the freedom we knew as little children.

In Finding Your Way Home, you'll see how you can leave the shame behind and recover the childlike joy that's so elusive - even to committed Christians. It all begins by truly understanding what it means to be a part of God's functional family. Because no matter how "good" or "bad" our families were, it's only in His family that we can find genuine wholeness and the freedom to be who we really are.

Can't imagine why this has not been reprinted. Whether you're a newer Christian or a lifelong, It's all about grace folks. Mr. Schmidt sets down clearly *why* all families are dysfunctional on some level (in our sinful state no parent can be perfect), how the 'church,' believers if you like that better, have misunderstood, misused Christ's teachings and 'how it's really supposed to be.' I'm a lifelong Christian with much college and personal study. I found myself often fist-pumping "Yes, yes, yes!" This book is being used in our local faith based addiction recovery program. Tops the list off all the faith books I've ever read. Come on, Regal Books, gives us a reprint!!!

This book is a blessing to my life. While searching for some inner healing of my child within, I discovered this title in another book. So as I searched on Amazon and read a review about this book, I ordered FINDING YOUR WAY HOME. I have underlined so much of it's teaching, that I can now lead a group study and encourage others to buy it also. We need this resource for healing and understanding of wounds within that can so easily go undetected.
The Scripture passages are enriching and Dr. Ken Schmidt's insights shed new light on many of them. To see evil power seeking to destroy Jesus in the wilderness and compare it to our own temptation to be a controller, rescuer and
victim is new wisdom and freedom.
Please get on this journey of freedom and great hope with these new truths from a great author.

Everyone should read this book. It is a very emotionally difficult book until chapter 4 so hang in there. I have found that it a book to do with at least one other person. Each person in our group has found such healing by applying the information from this book.

I have had this book as part of my library for a number of years and while I have sorted through and disposed of many books due to lack of shelf space, this is one book that will always have a permanent place among favorites. It clearly helped me to understand the need to recognize and find my own identity and to then encourage others in their own process of finding wholeness, learning how to develope healthy and productive relationships in the process. Ken clearly expresses the freedom we can find as we develop a relationship with God through His Spirit as He leads us through our earthly relationships, teaching us what true love really means--freedom to be REAL people. Accepting and encouraging each other through the process of living the life we have, growing and maturing and becoming more genuine in the process.

Ken Schmidt is a marriage and family counselor in Ventura, California who has written an inspired book about where we fit into the scheme of things. Instead of blaming our parents or blaming society or blaming some other person or factor in our lives, Ken enables the reader to see that God can bring us into a right relationship with the people in our lives as well as Himself if we see Him and ourselves as He designed those relationships to be. I have purchased copies for troubled friends and was hoping to buy another copy from Amazon. I definately recommend it.
The book is great. Has been a tremendous aid to healing of my heart. The seller stated the condition correctly so I was not surprised by the small amount of damage.
