Full of brilliant common sense! Mrs. Martin takes us behind the curtain to see in rich detail what alternative education really looks like when it bestows upon its subjects the freedom to choose. Every parent who feels compelled to give their kids into the care of total strangers should read this book. --John Taylor Gatto, Author: Dumbing Us Down And Weapons of Mass Instruction Product Description Radical Unschooling is a progressive parenting philosophy, which includes children learning at home. It is different from homeschooling in that children are not forced to follow curriculum lessons and tests. Radical Unschooling philosophy focuses on trust of a child's innate ability to learn without coercion and invites children to explore their passions. The parent's role is to facilitate their interests and curiosity. Radical Unschooling - the book - focuses also on the evolutionary aspect of parenting and human consciousness. We are parenting and educating our children today to succeed in a joyful, productive life by following their passions, not someone else's agenda. The main presentations are - School is only one of many choices for our children in our technologically advanced world. - Forced learning isn't effective and causes more damage than formerly thought. - Respecting a child's choice and autonomy is an evolution of understanding and birth right of every human. - Learning and life are not separate. Learning is pleasurable if it is not forced on us. - Separating life into subjects isn't necessary or natural. - Humans learn from all that they do and experience in life, not just what our culture deems ''educational.'' - The main focus of parenting today is obedience and meeting the needs of the parent. This has to change if we want our children to live in a peaceful world. Moreover, Radical Unschooling is just radical enough to herald a wake up call to our culture because of the truth the philosophy speaks.

This is a must-read for all parents and future parents. I'm a future parent and it will be valuable to me while I'm a parent. Make sure you buy the 2nd edition of this book. It is a fabulous read and it is the best book on unschooling out there. It is the most comprehensive book on unschooling out there. You will learn a lot and I highly suggest this book to any parent with children and anyone who is going to be a parent. There needs to be a lot of parents to read this book and I know there will be. They will not have to put their kids through places that force learning on children. Not only does it go into the truth about schools, it tells the truth about parenting and even life itself! I know this book will persuade parents on not dropping their children in schools and I'm sure it will persuade parents to take their children out of school for good. This book is promising and I know it will change the physical plane in an ultra positive way.

Our society is ready for a radical change in how we treat each other - including those under the age of 18! I felt reassured, excited and empowered while reading this book. I know I have made a positive choice by moving in the direction of radical unschooling - it's easier, much more fun and our family life is loving and filled with laughter everyday. I highly recommend this book to anyone, even if you don't have kids.

I began my homeschooling journey ten years ago, when my oldest child was born. My journey into attachment parenting came a few months after my sons birth. I was so set on following a schedule and forcing my son to bend to my needs that I was neglecting his needs and we were both tired and unhappy. At that point, I said ENOUGH! I decided that since I needed sleep and he needed nourishment he would sleep with me and I would make provisions for him to nurse. I had no idea that this was the beginning step into attachment parenting, I was just listening to my heart and asking God to guide me and that's where it led. Ever since, I have worn my babies and co-slept with them and feel so attached.
Sadly, this didn't carry over into homeschooling. I got myself set on a belief that unless we had strict discipline, a set schedule, and hundreds of dollars worth of curriculum we were doing it wrong. To top it all off, our family has faced great trials in the last five years. I was so depressed, discouraged and resentful. I was ready to throw in the towel and cry "uncle!" After many tears and much prayer, I found this book on Audible and remembered I owned the Kindle version too. I decided to get the audio book and to read along to get the most out of the book. In this book I found renewed hope, strength and a kindred spirit in Dayna Martin. Now my family will embark on a new journey of life, learning, respect, trust and connection.
Dayna, thank you for being God's messenger to me at this time of great need. Much love to you and your family.

After reading a copy of a friend's, I knew I had to own my own. Easy read but very thorough and honest. I have no children of my own yet but have two god children which the book has helped me to see their behavior(s) in a new light with a different perspective. I applaud Mrs Martin for her courage and commitment to her family and the way she allows each person in her life to unfold into the person each of them are meant to be. Great read, recommended!

The book achieves its goal of explaining what radical unschooling is and how it is done. But even thoug I homeschool, this book did not convince me that radical unschooling is a better option. In fact, I'm more doubtful about it after reading the book.

I loved this book. Dayna and her family are such an inspiration to those trying to have better relationships with our children and choosing to go a nonconventional route to parenting.

She gives a lot of examples of what she does in her family and it's nice to have a starting ground. You can take the examples and mold them to your own family's needs.

I love this book and the author. She has an amazing insight into parenting and a YouTube channel full of knowledge.
I enjoyed truly reading this book. If you are an unschooler, new to unschooling or thinking about it I recommend this book.
