Child sexual abuse is a social injustice that is given the least attention in our society. Dealing with these reactions and helping your child recover from the abuse, requires time, strength, and support from your extended family, your community, and from professionals in law enforcement, child protection, and mental health services. It may be difficult but it is important to notify law enforcement if your child discloses sexual abuse. This is an important step in keeping children safe in our society.

First of all if you are are reading this out of necessity I am truly sorry. You have my deepest sympathies. I found out both of my daughters were abused by a trusted FEMALE family member. I purchased this book and "When your child has been molested." Both excellent books. I wish however I read this one first. This book provides a "what to say" to your child for each chapter. Which I found absolutely invaluable. Highly recommend you purchase this book and start the healing process. Good luck and your not alone.

I have a three-year-old daughter who has been molested by her biological father and it has been a roller coaster, still is as we are still in the midst of a DCS investigation. Though he has been indicated, we are not certain what the courts will rule. As I picked the book up to scan through it, it was amazing how many things "hit home" and made me feel validated, which is something you find yourself needing as the non-offending parent. Although I wish the book were updated, it is still a very valuable resource. I am glad my daughter's play therapist recommended it to me.

I have taken her to a therapist and her therapist suggested that I get a book or books to help me help her through the aftermath. This book is very helpful.
