Alstad's collection of Old West sayings offers a Will Rogers-like perspective in viewing life--he was a cowboy when he was young. These addages are uniquely American as is the likes of Mark Twain. There is a great deal of thoughtful humor in each savvy sayin' while revealing an especially philosphical approach to life. The author's selection of accompanying Charles Russell and Frederic Remington engravings are more than appropriate and add real seasoning to the lean-and-meaty substance which cause the readers--and listeners, should you incorporate these flavorful ditties in conversation--to chew on the meanings while ruminating over the context. Yup.
Initially a birthday gift from my my mother more years ago than I care to remember.

Great fun, but I do wish they'd kept the original illustrations.
This book is full of wisdom and humor, I love it. Sometimes the most profound statements are said with the few words.
Wonderful book, we have all enjoyed it. Even the teenagers will read this. I put it out on the coffee table and everyone picks it up and laughs at the great one-liners.
quick mailing and booklet was in good condition.
it was exactly what I expected, only in very good shape.
thank you very much.
I first bought this book twenty years ago, and have used many of its simple phrases and words of wisdom over the years. I wore the book out in fact, so I was happy to be able to but a new version. All of the old lines are in this book, and a few new ones. However, I did notice some quips are repeated numerous times through out this new version.
Humor and wisdom in every quip.
This little blue denim covered book has given me many smiles over the years. Its quirky cowboy sayings ring true and have much wisdom. If you are a lover of the Wild West, you will love this book too!
