You may be able to follow and take part in a lively discussion with native speakers, but in nine out of ten cases the native speakers will know that you are not a native speaker. If I watch a movie where an American or a French or a German actor tries to speak Danish, it may sound convincing to viewers in the US, in France or in Germany, but because I am Danish, I will instantly be able to tell that this actor is not a native speaker. Just a few words will be enough to reveal that you are a foreigner.
