The Chanur novels is a series of five science fiction novels, forming three separate stories, written by American author C. J. Cherryh and published by DAW Books between 1981 and 1992. The first novel in the series is The Pride of Chanur (1981), which was nominated for both the Hugo and Locus Awards in 1983.

American writer C. Cherryh's career began with publication of her first books in 1976, Gate of Ivrel and Brothers of Earth. She has been a prolific science fiction and fantasy author since then, publishing over 80 novels, short-story compilations, with continuing production as her blog attests. Ms. Cherryh has received the Hugo and Locus Awards for some of her novels.

The Legacy’s hold was not full, the cargo was light-mass, the crew on watch was minimal to the safety requirements, and as soon as they hit their assigned lane for the outward run, the crew was snug. in beds, sound asleep, except for the captain, who had the sole watch, who was propping her eyes open and seeing ghosts in the. Shadows of the bridge. She never had done such a turnaround since she came to the Legacy, never hoped to do another.

Chanur's Legacy by CJ Cherryh. This is the five story in the Chanur universe. It is a stand alone story, which does not directly interact with the previous four books. However events from those books. Пользовательский отзыв - Kirkus Читать весь отзыв.

Spoiler alert. One of my favorite moments in the Chanur series is when Pyanfar meets a young Hani male who tells her that she the reason that he was able to escape the fate that his sexist society had in store for him and reach for the stars. Of course I wanted to know what became of him and now I do. His destiny was a bit cliched but it is refreshing to see sexist stereotypes turned on their heads even if they are still recognizable from an upside down position. Great Read!!!!!
Chanur's Legacy is a fitting conclusion to the Chanur saga. It stands on it's own, but it certainly follows all the themes that run through the earlier novels: The Stcho are flighty but opaque, the Kif are dangerous, the Mahi are devious. There is interspecies, as well as internal politics involving Pyanfar and there is also another male spacer with a license but little real skill inserted to add another level of complexity. Could one still hope to see Pyanfar striding across the dock in some future adventure?
I love this book, I love this series! I reread this series every three to four months and I love it as much on the last reading as I did on the first! I know the author is better known for her other series but in opinion this is one of the best science fiction series ever written. My only complaint is that the author is not adding to the series. If only C. J. Cherryh would add to this series as it is one that cries out for more books to be written to feed the addiction to the Chanur universe that this series has brought forth in those of us who have fallen in love with the series.
Cherryh's writing is always superb. I had read the Chanur's trilogy some years back and ran across this book looking for a different series, ordered it and read it. It is a fitting follow-up on the first three books. I have all of Cherryh's sci-fi books and like them all.
Love this author, she is renowned for her writing. I've bought this series at least 5 times in my life to replace worn or damaged editions.
...of the Chanur saga while leaving enough free threads to capture & entertain readers' imaginations both when & if never another book in the series is written. And that's an interesting balancing act to achieve. CJ Cherryh is simply one of the most talented writers in current-day SF. Love love love it.
Every fan of compact space. C. J. Cherryh brings Hilfy into true adulthood by throwing all the tensions, ethical conundrums and diplomatic challenges at her that Pyanfar herself faced. This book also provides a sense of closure to the charged and uncertain relationship between Hilfy and Py.
I love the Chanur books I just wished that their was more.
