I grew up watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and revered Mr. Rogers as a role model. I wanted to be just like him when I grew up.

Sadly, I never had a chance to meet this wonderful, gentle, brilliant man, who passed away in 2003. Of course, now I'm a parent, and after having read this book, I can imagine his advice in all sorts of situations.

Yes, this is an old book, long out of print -- it was published in 1983. You won't find any advice about raising kids on social media or how to break their addiction to iPads. You will find timeless insights into childhood and into parenting. Forget about fad of the month, Fred Rogers is the real deal. Buy a used copy.... and then pass it down to your own children.

The book, Mister Rogers Talks With Parents came in the mail promptly and was in the condition as was promised-very good. I have a copy of the book somewhere, but it is worn from using it to play the included songs in the back portion of the book, so I decided to get this one and am so glad to have it! I've been trying to interest my grandson, who is 3 yrs. old, in Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, but it is getting harder and harder to find on TV! I loved the book and I am and was, especially thankful for the music to some of Fred Rogers' best-loved songs!

Mr. Rogers is my hero! I absolutely adore him, and I am so grateful that he put down in words his incredible knowledge, understanding, and love of all children. There has never been, and never will be, another like him. I'm so sad he is gone, but, we are so lucky to have had him in our lives at all!

Mr. Rogers' brilliant insights are so easily taken for granted, that most of us Americans don't even think twice about him. His influence is so ubiquitous that it's very easy to overlook the alternative -- the very likely possibility that we could have no models like him. His body of work is a lovely lesson in parenting, and this book is a helpful guide for new parents. After all, his example is precisely the sort of stability and consistency, patience and deep understanding, competence and reliability, which are so greatly needed in parents. Every parent wants to be effective -- Mr. Rogers shows how.

This is the best parenting book I read in my many years of parenting. I followed his advice and re-read the book many times to reinforce his ideas as I went along. My kids are grown and have all turned out absolutely AWESOME - I give the credit to Mr. Rogers, hands down!
As a Clinical Psychologist working with children and families, I can give this book my heartfelt recommendation. Rarely are such complex and difficult questions answered so well without using jargon and confusing language. I frequently recommend this book to families, particularly to young parents.
