Harry Wolcott has been around quite some time and he always produces well crafted ethnographies and texts. This is no exception. Divided into 8 chapters (lessons), Wolcott systematically and engagingly lays out the essential lessons he has learned from decades of ethnographic research on various continents and in different cultures, including his own "tribe." The book is aimed at advanced undergraduate students and graduate students. Generally, someone who is familiar with what ethnography is will benefit the most. His lessons are presented in relatively non-jargonized, clearly articulated points that are easily digested in a sitting. The book is short, 160 pp, but packed with great ideas. Harry Wolcott has brought together in this slim volume very useful ideas for both the novice and experienced ethnographer. Don't miss it!
