Very helpful and detailed map. I dont know if it is out of date or what but it is missing a few details such as a few official trail heads. It also doesnt have some other well used "unofficial" trails that are well documented in some other books, but I think this map is meant to cover only the official trails (otherwise it would be VERY messy). The road names on the map are a little confusing too as most are not named. I usually just looked at the map and compared it with google maps or my GPS/Garmin. All that said it was still the best map available, its durable, waterproof, and huge. But you can fold it down small enough to use it on the trails.

We do a great deal of hiking in the Sedona area and this is the best map we have found. It is very complete and easy to read. We have found it to be most helpful in planning for our daily hikes and has hikes listed that we did not know about.

The dirt roads are labeled very poorly, if at all, and are faint on the map. So it's easy to find the hike you want to take, but a challenge to figure out how to get there.
Daigrel
Very detailed, topographic map, clearly marked trails. It also shows the location of the viewpoints. I found it accurate and a great companion for the "Great Sedona Hikes" trail guide.
Nightscar
Excellent map.
Faell
One of the better maps of Sedona's hikes.

Lots of detail and a nice smooth finish, but this map should have been printed better.
The contrast does not offer much help to the fine lines. And the trail heads should be marked AND listed.
I'm going back to my old maps and my new GPS.
I finally bought this map a couple months ago from the Sedona Visitor Center where it costs less and there is no sales tax. For many years I've been hiking the Sedona area by myself with only 1 hiking book by the Mangums (of Flagstaff), and the free b&w topo maps of the individual trails + the free print-out of the trailheads overview, and no compass or GPS. While I got along well enough without this map, once I bought it I wished I'd done so long ago. This map really helps "connect the dots" by showing where all the trails are in relation to eachother, and which ones connect where... The small free print-outs are OK if you're only visiting briefly, and sticking to the high-traffic trails, but I recommend this map for people who want to explore the area and know it better.

The vinyl coating is a plus.

On my next trip to the visitor center I'll buy the Flagstaff Hiking Trails Map.
