All the measurements are in the metric system. Pain to convert for me. Maybe not for you. Good ideas though!

I am eighteen and moved out of home a year ago, and I love this book! I am not a great cook and this book has been really helpful in giving me basic, fast recipes to cook. A few of my favourite recipes - Citrus Pancakes (flour, egg, milk, orange), Garlic Butter (butter, garlic, lemon juice, parsley), Scones (flour, cream, lemonade), Rissoles (mince, onion, egg, flour). As you can see they are simple recipes, but perfect for someone who doesn't have much experience cooking but wants to eat better than frozen foods just heated up in the oven. Some of the recipes do list pre-made sauces, etc as ingredients, but there's a whole section on dips and sauces so you can make them yourself if you want. I highly recommend this to young students, parents wanting to teach their kids how to cook, or anyone who doesn't like to spend too much time cooking.

I'm in complete agreement with Louisa Drolz's review. This book infuriated me. It shouldn't be called a recipe book. It has a "recipe" for profiteroles which says to buy a pack of profiterole mix and follow the instructions on the packet. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That does not belong in a recipe book. I can't believe this book got published.

If you like often tasteless, expensive food of questionable nutritional value then, by all means, buy this book. Many of the recipes contain a packaged convenience food (eg a simmer sauce or similar) and most require several additional ingredients other than the core four to make them edible.

It's a big stretch to call this a cookery book. It's really only of use to those whose knowledge of meal preparation is limited to dialing for a pizza. I just can't imagine who else would find it useful, but clearly people do because the book has been a bestseller. I am baffled as to why.
