The community, Hureidah, has a population of about 2,000people, ranked in an elaborate social hierarchy. Hureidah is a typical Hadramaut town in acountry where people all speak the same Hadrami dialect of Arabic, are all Shafii Muslims,and all have similar historical traditions. there are villages and towns scatteredwith less than a mile from one to the next. Wādī Hadramaut is the most densely populated of all themain valleys.
