She had two daughters of her own, who were, indeed, exactly like her in all things. It happened that the King's son gave a ball, and invited to it all persons of fashion. This is a great book and its the version of Cinderella before Disney changed it. Cinderella has a mom in this story!

Cinderella is beautiful, but you can't tell it. She is often dirty and wears nasty, raggedy clothes because she does all the housework while her cruel stepmother and jealous stepsisters do nothing at all. They even make fun of Cinderella because they think she is not as good as they. In spite of their treatment of her and her unhappiness, she loves her stepmother and stepsisters.

One day this unimportant Cinderella shocks them. They discover her to be the great and lovely princess whom nobody knows. How Cinderella could be a secret and important and most beautiful princess when nobody knew is the story of Cinderella.

This was one of my favorite books during my childhood. I lent it to a friend and it never came back to me, therefore I have been searching for it for a long time (I forgot the title and author). The book is in a novel format with beautiful silhouettes illustrating almost every page. If you like fairy tales that have been re-written, this is a really good choice.
