Scott Thybony: Archeologist, wilderness Guide and author, he writes eloquently about the natural and cultural world of Northern Arizona. He's the author of six other guides published by the Grand Canyon Association for specific canyon trails, He also wrote Phantom Ranch, Wildfire, Rock Art of the American Southwest, and many other books. Last year I took a group of 10 hikers to walk from the North Rim to the South Rim in one day. This entailed two mammoth tasks; logistics for the trip and getting 10 middle aged men into the shape to complete this arduous task.

This book is excellent for what it's intended for--that is, hiking the inner Grand Canyon. It's got excellent information, and good maps and photos. The book's author is one of the best Western writers alive today, and I got this book in my slow quest to acquire everything he's ever published.

However, this book isn't the sort of thing most people would just pick up and read for fun. It is however, a very good guide to the Grand Canyon, and as such is very valuable.

There is nothing in this book that I hadn't already seen from searching the internet. This is a good beginners guide if you are just starting your research, but there isn't anything in this book that you couldn't get from the National Park Service website.
