Heely Baby Days of Be. .There is literally no comfortable place in your house to store it.

Heely Baby Days of Be. The one downside is that there is literally no manageable or comfortable way to actually read it either. That said, it is THE tome on midcentury, mid-atlantic beach music and culture.

Probably the best book on the regional beach music scene ever written. Combine this with Rick Simmons' book "Carolina Beach Music: The Classic Years," which covers regional and national hits and tells the story behind the songs, and you'll know a whole lot about beach music very quickly.

I first saw this book several years ago and it is a 12 pound coffee table page turner. It is impossible to take it all in all at once, but I knew I wanted my own copy. Being a musician who grew up on the east coast of the U.S. I know/knew many of the bands and artists written about and pictured in this history of beach music. The book is out of print so I searched for used copies; but they were hard to find and ones that I found had some small flaws. Incredibly, my wife found a brand new one, in its original shrink wrap, in mint condition. Thank heaven for the internet and thank heaven for Amazon. The author, Greg Hayes of Waycross Georgia published this 12 pound beauty in 2006--and he has been encouraged by countless folks to do a reprint and/or an update. Chances are that will not happen, so this book will simply become more and more rare. It is a possession I will never part with.

I can hardly wait to receive my copy. I discovered it 3 years ago when my uncle, who I was taking care of is a featured musician in this book, passed away. I gave the book to his son. He's was my moms baby brother and I want her and myself to have a copy.

The essence of the coffee table book. Great pictures, often rare, and insightful interviews with the performers. Probably the best book on the regional beach music scene ever written. Combine this with Rick Simmons' book "Carolina Beach Music: The Classic Years," which covers regional and national hits and tells the story behind the songs, and you'll know a whole lot about beach music very quickly. A must have -- if you can afford it.
