This is a smaller book with recipes that to me are not the common Hungarian recipes. May have been recipes from old Hungarian families (just didn't seem like the standard recipes my mother and grandmother, who are both 100% Hungarian and my grandmother was born in Hungary, used to make). They are, I'm sure, good Hungarian recipes, but not the most common ones, I feel. I enjoyed the beginning of the book with the written information that was given. Maybe it was just not the type of book I was looking for!

When my family moved to Hungary, I was totally unprepared for the cuisine. We are back in the US and my children and I still prefer Hungarian food to any other. I was so excited to find Gundel's cookbook on Amazon! I gave one to each of my daughters and daughters-in-law. Even the ones who "eat healthy" are preparing Hungarian meals. However, I forgot to buy one for myself. Mine had been lost in one of our moves. I'll have to remedy that. Thank you for making such variety available. Ruthmary Abbott.

OKAY COOKBOOK NOTHING GREAT INSIDE.
If you like Hungarian food, this is an excellent book to have on hand. The traditional dishes are all represented and making them are easy to do, just follow the instructions.
