This is the second Karin Fossum book I've read (I'm on a Scandinavian crime fiction reading jag right now). One thing I notice about her style is that it's an emotional drama disguised as a mystery/crime. Karin Fossum tells the story about a little girl who disappears while off riding her bike on her way to a store - every parent's nightmare. The emotion that grips all the characters as the story develops gives them fullness and depth, and makes for compelling reading.

When two teenagers steal a purse from a stroller, it results in an infant’s death.

A gruesome tableau awaits Inspector Konrad Sejer in the oppressive summer heat: a woman and a young boy lay dead in a pool of blood near a dank camper. The details of the deaths of Bonnie Hayden and her five-year-old son Simon are mysterious. When two teenagers steal a purse from a stroller, it results in an infant’s death. Unaware of the enormity of their crime, Zipp and Andreas are intent on committing another.

Norway's Queen of crime-an thriller' Daily Mail. Beneath the imposing Kollen Mountain lies a small village where the children run in and out of one another's houses and play unafraid in the streets. A gruesome tableau awaits Inspector Konrad Sejer in the oppressive summer heat: a woman and a young boy lay dead in a pool of blood near a dank camper.

Writing her first book of poetry, ‘Kanskje I morgen’, in 1974, she started out writing both poems and short-stories. Her first full novel was published in 1995 when she brought out ‘In the Darkness’, which was to be the first in her ‘Inspector Sejer’ series. Quickly following off the success of that, she then brought out ‘Don’t Look Back’ the following year, it being the second in the series. This was translated into English in 2002, whilst the first found itself translated in 2012
