The first impression one may have of this particular book is that the quality of the print job or the design of the cover is sub-par compared to other professional publications. The text appears to bleed into the pages, and the design of the cover is by design standards absolutely horrendous. However, a sensible person will allow for a through investigation of a book before prejudging that which outwardly seems insufficient.

And so I made my attempt. But alas, I have found that all my assumptions were actually true. Not only is the text difficult to read due to the bleeding problem, but left and right margins are made flush without making use of hyphenated words at the ends of lines, creating lines that are spaced differently each and every time the line changes. This can greatly affect the eye's ability to move straight across a line without unnecessary stops (though advanced speed readers may not encounter such stymieing issues).

Also, there appears to have been no editor other than the author himself. There are many errors that could be caught by a word processor's spell check function, and careless grammatical usage errors litter the text (e.g. using "than" where "then" should be applied). I resent having to use this as a school textbook.

However, the most troublesome aspect of the book is that it is really rather vague in the information it supplies, leaving out many details as a matter of common knowledge even if they are not. The endless pages of text without illustrations, enlightening examples, or enrichment beyond the outlay of facts serves only to appeal to the most base form of learning: knowledge. There are no questions posed for analysis or interpretation, and there are no challenging issues presented with which to stimulate the mind. Educationally, the book does a very poor job of teaching while doing a lot of statement of endless facts.

I am also of the opinion that the Arizona Constitution appendix could use indexing at the top of pages to indicate which part of the Constitution is being viewed on any given page.

I would not recommend this book AT ALL for student use; if you are looking for a book to use with students, seek something more enriching, challenging, and well published.

Seriously?? This book is fine for the information for the ridiculous class that teachers have to take for further licensure. However, it reads as though a high school student wrote the book and is not altogether unbiased. Awkward sentence combinations and numerous spelling errors make me even more annoyed that I have to pay to take this class and therefore pay for this lame book. "Free from Civil suits of *liable* and slander"?? Really?? The "college" level "professor" that wrote this book about government doesn't even know that liable is not LIBEL.
Reading this book just seriously makes me irritated.
