David Morrell's international thrillers have no equal. From the Vatican to the Swiss Alps, from Australia to the heartland of America, The League of Night and Fog brings together two generations bound by one chilling legacy.

David Morrell's international thrillers have no equal. David Morrell is, to me, the finest thriller writer living today, bar none.

Narrated by George Ralph. Morrell, an absolute master of the thriller, plays by his own rules and leaves you dazzled. In terms of these books, I read some chilly motherfuckers and some funny motherfuckers. Here are a few standouts from 2018: Er. 2 min read. Dean Koontz, author of Sole Survivor. Morrell's espionage thriller is a demanding work that requires concentration

Morrell's espionage thriller is a demanding work that requires concentration. That and the slow-moving, convoluted plot make Night and Fog a book that may be easier to read than to listen to. The complex sequel to THE FRATERNITY OF THE STONE is four separate but related stories about murderous Catholic priests, former Nazi SS officers, and a group of Jewish death camp survivors. Toss in the CIA, the Mossad, and other spy groups, and it becomes too hard to keep the characters straight. Still, the story is worth the effort.

From the Vatican to the Swiss Alps, from Australia to the heartland of America, the two masterful operatives known as Saul and Drew are being drawn together to solve a violent riddle: Why have ten old men been abducted from around the world? When the agents, weary of their own covert wars, begin to investigate, they are pulled into a terrifying cycle of revenge that began in the heart of World War II—and is now forcing sons to pay for their fathers’ darkest sins.…

I was drawn to this book by its title and cover art, but the storyline kept me riveted to the very end. I felt as if I knew these characters, and it turns out I did know them from two prior books (The Brotherhood of the Rose, and The Fraternity of the Stone) which I had read over 30 years ago! Night & Fog completes a trilogy, but in this edition, the author has also provided an addendum that ties up all the loose ends left when he made a personal decision not to write a fourth book, so I'm glad I didn't read it until now. If you like mystery, conspiracy, and covert operations, you'll love this book!

I read this in 2016 and the book was probably written in the 1980's. No cellphones to get people out of trouble, and when a terrorist was described as having a mouth full of $300 crowns, I knew the book was likely 30 years old or so.
But still an enjoyable read featuring former German SS officers disappearing, a sinister plot involving the Vatican and a secret order of priests who assasinate.
Far-fetched but fun and with a good deal of twists along the way.
Highly recomended for thriller lovers - written by the creator of Rambo.

I am a huge fan of the series this was the last one of the series that I've read and it did not disappoint. there was a nice level of complexity, there were different layers to the book, and as a reader who likes to figure out the finish before the end I was unable to and that is always a pleasant surprise for me.

I didn't look at the publication date before I bought this so it was a little disconcerting to read a n "older" story a la early Jack Reacher. The story was interesting if pretty unbelievable. Not enough to make me continue reading the series but not a waste of time either.

Loved the convoluted story and character development. Good action that was worked into the plot line was delightful. As usual, some of the twists and turns were a bit contrived, but enjoyable. I can recommend this to those of us readers who addicted to espionage thrillers.

All in all it was a ok read, started out with promise, charactor developement was lacking, plot was convoluted, but it was tied together in the end

I have found a new author to try.

There are are two interesting duos, who I now want to read their other adventures

With all the anti Israeli propganda in today's world. Good to see an Israeli as a heroine
Book starts out with some solid history then turns into yet another holocaust, Nazi, mossad, related unrealistically over structured, seemingly historical thriller. Does someone pay for one of these to be written every year? Characters are all super men and women speaking multiple languages and skilled in every art. I stopped reading halfway through.
