Santa Cruz River (Spanish: Río Santa Cruz) is a river in the Argentine province of Santa Cruz. The Santa Cruz begins at the shore of the Viedma and Argentino Lakes, of glacial origin and located in the Los Glaciares National Park, and runs 385 kilometres (239 mi) eastwards before reaching the Atlantic Coast, 350 kilometres (217 mi) north of the southern tip of South America, creating a delta. It is one of the last large free-flowing rivers in Patagonia.

Inside his mom's womb in 1982, io is finally hearing the world three days before he will see it. He is excited, over all, because of Sarah, a nurse who talks, kisses and caresses him from his mom's belly. io's excitement is betrayed by his mom, Jenine, who can't handle her loneliness because her husband is in the Marines, fighting the Russians in Afghanistan. 27 Years Forward- 2009 The first day, after being laid off from Channel 7 in Miami, Jenine anchors a newscast at CBS together with Antonio Jr., who is living with the heart of her son, and who is Sarah's son. The only two survivors are Sarah and Fabio, who, now, has io's heart transplanted from Antonio Jr. In his recovery, io's heart brings memories to Fabio when he was born, delivery performed by Fabio. So, Fabio sees through io's eyes his last seconds alive, as if he were reborn again.

I read basically to fall asleep. Said so, it constantly jumps: in time, scene and characters. This is a book to study from God's point of view; to enjoy before bed? Not so much, because a question mark in your head is like an unfaithful man.

Not sure what the author intended, although it caught my attention on page 12--- you are going to be surprised.

At time, it has a poetic flow, and its plot is very well tied, so one buys that the characters are good friends. On the other hand, the unborn infant sounds like science fiction, toward the end of his end- it has a Disney Magic going on when he talks. However, he never uses noun, with the exception of mami - his mom; he always says soft-voiced gay--referring to a gay friend of his mom or <aged-voiced woman> -- referring to his grandmother.

The end is unexpected, since the narrative hides the characters as they jump unexpectedly at any given sentence, but it does not leave the circle of friends, which I was really expecting to see the end. It seems the author did want to write a second part.

A great book to have insomnia...

Before the Day has to be read, and seen, as a whole.

It is very philosophical. It also explores many what ifs in life. What if I will be born again: would it be from the same womb, under the same circumstance...?

It has also a poetic flow, which may lead to see its characters extremely cultured to the 21st century-- although from the begining, we all know that they are all professionals: journalists, writers and doctors.

The POV is the unknown. It is also a satire to the THIRD PERSON OMNISCIENT. More than once the reader is confronted with the way life is.

The writer is not in the book at all, but one is suspicious the he is hiting behind the characters, since he clearly plays with them as a poker game.

An unattached story, misled by the unknown, which has to be tied up be the reader. What happens is narrated in present tense, the past and/or the future are only part of our psyche.

I have recently read a few chapters of the book and in short it is a masterpiece of the 21st century. You will be hooked just by reading the first chapter. With that said, I find it very peculiar; the author Jorge Santa Cruz does not have a published work that has yet transpired onto a film. Indeed, it is evident that based on his level of creativity and originality (showcased in his writing), this will be very forthcoming in the future. The book is an enigma wrapped in a riddle with many turning twists and plots. The true mystery is sympathy embarked on havoc, on a deeper level though from a physiological, dark humor, mysterious, supernatural standpoint. It is a rare form of genius. A sacred algorithm so to speak that will challenge your subconscious as well as your intellect. Reader beware, you will be perpetuated onto another world, another dimension, a secret passage of thrill seeking vengeance.

This book caught my attention because of the narrator is a unborn infant,
he's listening what his life would be about, getting to know people around him,
eventually he would learn about love, hate and eventually his own killer. This
is a puzzle that you really have to figure out as the kid inside the womb, is trying to figure out the outside life.

I kind of like the way all this story develop, is something different and weird at the same time but very interesting... I do recommend this reading!
