This is my third Bennett novel. NO ONE in my opinion writes a novel like Patterson. The Michael Bennett series is to reading , like a buffet is to a hungry person! Once the basics of Pattersons stories are laid down you're in for a hell of a ride. I can't wait to read my next Bennet novel. I Wont review or expand on my thoughts more then to say someone has GOT to be smart enough to make a movie adaption of the Bennett series. One or two or more. I'd be curious to see who Patterson has in mind as he writes. I would see John Hamm in this book, Benedict Cumberbatch could easily play this books antagonist. Great book. I'll be back for the next one for sure!!
EXIBUZYW
A wealthy psycho is killing innocent people without reason.
Detective Bennett is involved as led investigator.
His multi-cultural family is ill and causes additional stress, while he investigates.
He is also finally feeling his emotions again after losing his wife to cancer, and he has developed relationships with both a fellow FBI investigator and for his children's nanny.
The suspect is kidnapping children of wealthy parents and as the book plays out he takes 3 kidnapped children to an unexpected ending.
A well written novel by this author with attention to detail being his telling element.

I been reading James Patterson books because I got hooked on Alex Cross until the end. But I decided to read something else and found Michael Bennett. Well, Michael Bennett is 10 times better I think then Alex Cross!! Bennett is more laid back and is not dry in humor. He is like being in the same room sitting and drink beer! So to me, his character is way better. I really hope it continues!!

The world is going to he'll in a hand cart. That seems to be a reoccurring theme lately..
This is a good story, with several well developed characters. Of course Detective Bennett successfully handles the bad guy, without struggling too much with the overall theme, but then he's just a NYPD detective.

WORST CASE by James Patterson with Michael Ledwidge features NYPD Detective Michael Bennett.
The story centers on a vicious kidnapper who preys on mega-wealthy New York--one-child--families. Bennett is called upon to solve the heart-breaking crimes with the help of FBI special agent Ms Emily Parker. A third of the way into the story, the reader is informed of the identity of the kidnapper. The Mastermind manages to outwit, outthink and elude law enforcement at every turn while practicing his depraved wickedness.
Ledwidge does a good job of developing Bennett's character making him appear charismatic and clever at times while lighthearted, funny and family oriented at others. Ledwidge, however, fails to develop Emily Parker's personality or bring her into the story as an engaging partner rather than a mere tag-along to Bennett. Also the love interest is left in cold storage--disappointing.
The story is not a serious or challenging read--mediocre by Patterson standards.
I rate the book a weak 3 out of 5.

The antagonist is incredibly deluded, yet extremely intelligent. Patterson writes another gripping crime drama with a loving family, including Bennett's grandfather. The motive is fairly obvious, or so it seems. Michael's wife, Maeve, has been dead for two years. A relationship of some sort is developing between Michael and his children's au pair, Mary Catherine. One girl only is released by the kidnapper because she passes his social studies test about poor people and international hardships. Great read.

Can't wait to find out what is going to happen between Michael and the nanny. Hmmm.

Michael and others in this series from James Patterson are quickly becoming my favorites. I miss the Alex Cross of old. Swiftly taking Alex's place are Michael, the priest uncles, cute children and sexy nanny.

In this latest edition to the James Patterson arensenal, Francis X Mooney is a misguided do-gooder. And I call him this because he really wants to do the right thing, but his methods are not so great. He is kidnapping the children of the uber rich and engaging them into a game of his own in attempt to ascertain their concern for environmental issues. Answers to his question prompt responses from him.

The book is a murder mystery, not so much mysterious as a display of murderous intentions aimed at the heartstrings of the 60s and 70s hippies.

The story is solid and the writing is clear. There is murder and mayhem as well as intrigue. Will Michael succumb to pretty new detective who will partner with him on this crime? Or what is going to happen between Michael and the nanny? <--- Perhaps that's the mystery.
The Michael Bennett books by Patterson are my favorite,I love the story and the 10 kids and the Nanny Mary Catherine, Patterson's book are really fun to read and his books gets other people the opportunity to read, The pnly thing that I question is He must make one hell of the salary, can you imagine feeding 10 kids and 2 adults, I know that cops do pretty well financially but in todays time just the price of food would overwhelm me, but even so, keep the books coming, I'm a big fan
