The fallout from Evangeline Walter's murder touched everyone who knew her, as if her venom had insidiously leached into their lives and poisoned their happiness. Even her cousin, Murray McGraw, who had a genuine affection for her, was not immune, and neither was Smiler O'Dowd, who loved her. But of all those who had contact with her, none suffered more than the wife and son of V. J. Sweeney, who drowned at sea before he could be charged with her killing. Was it all too neat? A very enjoyable sequal to Walking On Water. I would say for sure that if your pick this book up you really should read Walking On Water first as the plot and storyline for this sequal directly follow on from the first book. Plus if you read this first it will completely give away the first book. The sequal begins 8 years after the events of Walking On Water end. Cressida and Frank are now married and their daughter Katie May is joined by a teenaged Gill who now can hear and speak. The core of the plot focuses on Gill as he attepmts to deal with his past and the conflicting emotions it has engendered for him.

Basically, this is a reworking of the author's previous mystery, Walking on Water. Placed ten years later, with the same characters still struggling with the same murder and its outcome, and struggling, and struggling. It could have been half the length and twice as interesting. The premise is good, the outcome not.
