This book should not have been written it is a horrible way to make money. Especially off of a child that didn't have much and was led astray, looking for love and approval from such horrible men! Do you have a no star minus? Sad!!!

I purchased this book thinking it would be for the most part a detective's factual account of a local murder and the events that sent the murderer to prison for not nearly long enough with the names of those involved changed. Instead what I read was what sounded like how a pediphile would describe a 14 year old girl in terms that disgusted me completely. Alot of talk about the authors failing marriage, tasteless affairs, alcohol problems, inacurrate accounts of things that took place, accusations about events that were never proven, inability to get along with his boss and very little fact. He spent a great amount of time insulting the family of the victim and the victim herself by calling them "poor white trash" and the girl a "prostitute" among other things. How does one insult others when they are admittedly cheating on their wife with multiple people and an alcoholic? How could he write about "scum" that he dealt with as a detective when he admittedly is scum himself? It sounded like a bitter person that was inaffective at his job as a detective in the 70's and now has failed as an author as well. He should at least have the good taste to pull this from circulation himself before he does any more damage to victims family or the families of the other people that he spoke of in this book. When he said "I'm not a rocket scientist" I found that to be the most accurate sentence in the book. His less than intelligent manner of changing the names and places could be identified by a second grader.Murder in the Hoosier Corn

I had heard about this story and decided to read it for myself. My family is all from Indiana and now we will pass it around.

THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING BOOK ABOUT AN ACTUAL MURDER THAT WE ALL REMEMBER.IT WAS INTERESTING TO READ ABOUT ALL THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. THIS IS A MUST IF YOU ARE FROM AROUND SOUTHERN INDIANA.

A wonderful "Who done it" about a detective who is driven to find the culprit of a young girl's murder. It was riveting and kept my attention all the way through. I couldn't put it down! It was also a great value book because I learned some "inside" details on the investigative techniques and mental reasoning of a seasoned police detective. I'm looking forward to reading more stories by this author !! Loved it!

We have had several requests for this book at our library, because of morbid curiosity about a local crime. But I wish we had never purchased it.
This book is a poorly written, narcissistic, 'fictionalized' account of a very horrific murder.
I urge you not to buy it or read it. I agree with the other reviewer that it should be removed from Amazon's catalog.
Having a young daughter, I take personal offense at this adult man's description of a 14-year-old girl's body as having "a rear end like a black girl, appearing to start in the middle of her back and swelling into two appealing round mounds" ..... among other things.
I find this book, and it's author, disgusting.
If there were a way to give this book a 'less than one star' rating, I would.

Don't bother buying this book, it's not accurate and the family is absolutely mortified that his son is now putting out a second addition, which is also inaccurate.
The author is cold and heartless for writing and publishing this book. First, he (and publisher)should have spoken with family members prior to writing and publishing. Second, he could have been more discreet than to use names of those involved but spelled backward. Did you ever once consider what kind of memories this would cause family members to relive? The whole town of Fort Branch, Gibson (Nosbig) County, Indiana ought to run you out of town. I can't believe you expect to make a dime on this. You should be ashamed of yourself. I hope everyone takes this off the market.
