Best-selling crime writer . James - the initials stand for Phyllis Dorothy - exudes an air of quiet authority. Excerpted from The Mistletoe Murder by P. I was completely engrossed by the stories. As James herself writes, she was aiming for a Christie-like feel and she certainly succeeded although, truthfully, James was a better writer than Christie.

Descriptions get a bit too thorough at times, it makes for interesting reading and some pretty good plots. Always a satisfying read.

As per usual, P.D. James did not disappoint. She combines psychological suspense with keen intelligence in her writing. Can't get enough of her books.
