Like most of us, Mrs. Emerson tends to cling doggedly to the habits of her youth.

Keeping to her tongue in cheek style, Amelia And Emerson continue their journey. This time they’re back in Egypt but without Ramses this year. Many things happen remember Sethos? Unraveling the mystery is half the fun. Keep reading and enjoying.

I love it when Amelia loses her mind in defense of those she loves, and the deepening of the relationship with Abdullah was a welcome enhancement to the backdrop that the Egyptian fellahin sometimes seem to be in these books. But the best was the depiction of Cyrus Vandergelt, just enough off of the original to make you wonder at his sudden youth (and lack of a goatee) but never enough to make you suppose ... spoiler alert! I would love to know how Mertz did that.

Love it just as much as the first.
I will be starting the next book right away! Can't wait to see what they get themselves involved with next!

I am an Elizabeth Peters fan. Can't help it. I love the character of Ramses and they way she manages his husband. Always makes me laugh. I also think the locating the stories in the country of Egypt and the field of archeology give them a wonderful ambience.

One of the stranger plot twists is Emerson's amnesia and sudden recovery. During his amnesia Amelia's character exhibits emotional depths that are touching but very removed from her general pragmatism.
This book was okay, but not my favorite in the series.

Love it!
Have been "catching up" with all Amelia Peabody books. I want to read them in order as the author refers to previous texts, and I like to follow the timeline. I first read the author's work as Barbara Michaels. Then found out she also wrote as Elizabeth Peters. The two styles of writing are so very different, but I really like them both. (Maybe the books by B. Michaels just a little bit more). Highly recommend all her novels.
