The Individual Delinquent book. The handling of a delinquent in any way is an important affair for society

The Individual Delinquent book. The handling of a delinquent in any way is an important affair for society. Our findings show how vital it is that the handling should be entrusted to intelligent people, capable of understanding a human individual, and charged with a feeling of grave public duty. We see every need of insisting on this matter of understanding all along the line. It begins with parents, for they should comprehend at least the main phenomena of child life, and should guard the mental and moral sources of weal and woe.

Although this book purports to deal with the subject of criminology in general its main concern is with juvenile delinquency. that the main problems, particularly the all-important ones of genesis, relate to childhood and its development. The volume is divided into two books. In the first, entitled "General Data", there are four preliminary chapters, then four on "working methods" and statistics, with two on general conclusions as to treatment. The methods of investigation described are especially fully dealt with, and this section is exceedingly valuable.
