Well, here I am again about a year after this book's adquisition. As usual I have read the whole book, and got very satisfied with the results (given the available data). As in the book states, there is no so much information about real medicine inside this book, since it is not possible to deeply study the human body under all conditions keeping it fully operative for the re-entry to Earth.

The nice part is that many of the effects of "gravity" have been only noticed for a very short time period, so roughly. The bad part is that the obtained information is not so huge as desired at first.

To sum up, great book to see what happens to a human being under low gravity conditions for a small period of time.

From what I have read from this author, and if true, is that there is no so much information available to get nice hints or medicine breakthroughs, and there is still a lot to be done not only with humans, but also with biology in general. For plants and animals overview, see the same author's book: Fundamentals of Space Biology: Research on Cells, Animals, and Plants in Space (Space Technology Library).

Personally, about these topics there are still lots of uncertainties, and probably I have been too tough with the review of the previous book. If there is no available data to show something, there is no possibility to show anything in a book.

From my point of view, this is just a start guide for space operation involving humans.

I've read many Texts for my MAS program and this is the very first one that I've found that I can actually sit down at a resteraunt and enjoy. One added bonus is that I can also read it on AMAZON.com(purchased seperatley) so I can catch up on chapters AND HIGHLIGHT ONLINE if I need to.

Clement's book is one of the most important books in the Space Technology Library series. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University was wise to choose it for its graduate coursework in Space Science. The graphics were very good. The information was up-to-date, and the supplemental material on the CD was delightful inlcuding the tongue-in-cheek humor. I look forward to the next version as Dr. Clement gathers more information.

The references at the end of each chapter provide a wealth of information to dig deeper.

This was kind of dry and maybe a bit dated. Seems to have gotten the point across but I didn't find it a particularly book to accompany the rather enjoyable class I was taking.

Have insomnia? Buy this book. It's awful, and very slow to read. It was a necessary purchase for a college course I was taking, and I lamented reading this book.
